Every year the Middle of the Mitten, the St. Louis branch of the Gratiot Area Chamber of Commerce, recognizes new businesses who have opened the previous year or businesses that have changed ownership. In addition, chamber members who make physical improvements to their business are given PRIDE Awards. These awards are presented at a Good Morning Gratiot on the second Friday in January.
