The Gratiot County Heroes Center is sponsoring its first community concert to raise money that will be used to help fund the facility’s operational expenses.
The “Blues for Vets” event will take place beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16 at Alma Elks Lodge #1400, located at 610 W. Warwick Dr.
The outdoor event will feature blues bands from Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Ohio and mid-Michigan.
The six-hour concert, which is being hosted in partnership with the Gem Theater in St. Louis, will also feature a hospitality tent with food and beverages.
Tickets cost $30 each with the gates opening at 3 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Heroes Center (1329 Michigan Avenue, St. Louis), at Alma Elks Lodge #1400 (610 W. Warwick Drive, Alma), and at the gate the day of the event.
The groups scheduled to appear are The Sonny Moorman Group, Mixed Flavors, The Minard Shattuck Band, Motor City Josh & The Big Three, and Asuma Johnson and Associates of the Blues.
