Bike Tour

On Septemer 9, 2007, the St. Louis Police Department in conjunction with the Boy Scouts of St. Louis sponsored a Bicycle Safety Rodeo and a 12 Point Bicycle tour of St. Louis/Alma.  This event was put together by Dr. Craig Tubbs - Scout leader for the St. Louis Boy Scouts.  Sgt. The event kicked off at the St. Louis High School with the Safety Rodeo.  The rodeo consisted of bicycle inspections, registration, rules of the road, riding safety, and a road course where the participants were able to demonstrate their skills.  Free bicycle helmets were given to every child  that did not have one.  Several pairs of skateboarding/rollerblading pads and helmets were also given away.  Officers Hackney, Huttenga, and Wilson from the St. Louis Police Department and Officer Gulick of the Alma PD assisted at the bicycle rodeo.

After the safety rodeo, all participants went for a 12 Point Bicycle Tour through the cities of St. Louis and Alma.  Sgt. Ramereiz and Officer Hackney participated in he ride.  We made 12 stops through out our 14.8 mile ride.  At each stop a guest speaker covered the "12 points" of being a Boy Scout.  Snacks and Drinks wer made available at each stop.
