The 2007 Olive Street Reconstruction Project is currently underway.
To a large extent, this project is being made possible by funding from the Federal Surface Transportation Program (Small Urban funds) and by an MDOT Local Jobs Today Grant.
The project area is Olive Street between Corinth and Hebron Streets. This involves total roadway reconstruction including pavement, curb and gutter, drainage improvements and sidewalk construction.
Construction began early July of 2007. Some preliminary work took place in preparation for the Project. Consumers Energy replaced natural gas mains in the area and the City replaced water service lines and relocated some utility poles in preparation for the Project.
There will be a detour route in place during construction, however provisions for maintaining local traffic will be required.
The City planned an informational meeting for area residents once the successful bidder was identified. This took place in mid-May.
