Blues Festival

OFFICIAL NOTICE:  The St. Louis Blues Festival will not take place in 2019.

After long consideration of other events being held and affecting attendance in 2018, it has been decided to cancel the event this year and look at other options.

The festival organizers wish to send out a huge "thank you" to all of the sponsors that have made this a reality, year after year.  We have tried to bring in quality musical talent, and we believe we have been successful in that regard.

Stay tuned for more announcements as time goes on, and keep in touch with the Blues in St. Louis by following our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/minard.shattuck

The GEM Theater in Downtown St. Louis will continue to "Keep the Blues Alive!"

“The Blues is the Roots. The rest is the Fruits” - The great Willie Dixon, Chicago bluesman, composer and bassist

It’s been called the “true original American music form,” but the Blues has become a widespread and variant music form over the years.  Its humble beginnings in the rural south’s agricultural fields spread north to the industrialized cities and west to the prairies.  Today it incorporates the sounds of Country, Rock, Jazz and Funk.

The St. Louis Blues Festival began in 2007 after the opening of the GEM Theater in Downtown St. Louis.  The idea was put forth for an event to promote the city and its friendly small town atmosphere, and thus the first St. Louis Blues Festival was born.  The first festival was a one-day event in conjunction with the City of St. Louis’s annual 4th of July celebration.  The next year it expanded to its current two day event in the 200 block of North Mill Street.  Blues enthusiasts now travel from around the state to Downtown St. Louis for what year-to-year becomes more recognized for its cutting edge Blues performances.  This year the Blues Festival will be held on Friday and Saturday, August 17 & 18.

The event has grown to bring a thousand or more people to the St. Louis festival site, with hundreds of others enjoying the music from sidewalks along Mill Street.  Local merchants have been asked to step forward to support the event with sponsorships at various levels.  These sponsors are what makes the event sustainable, and have led to the festival’s reputation of being one of the most exciting and enjoyable events in Gratiot County.

Please join in the fun, excitement and great music!  Sponsors receive varying rewards for their efforts, including banner placement at the site, tickets, ad space in the program and numerous mentions and acknowledgements form the stage during music intermissions.  Most of all, what you’ll get from a sponsorship of the St. Louis Blues Festival is a great time on a summer weekend, and the gratitude of all those who attend for helping to make the St. Louis Blues Festival one of the most anticipated events in Mid-Michigan.
