Library
Short Term Goal - New Catalog System with Bar Code Patron Cards. There is a Federal Grant available to help purchase the system and the cost is about $13,000.
Replace lights or fixtures in the library. The present lights are too dim and do not meet the quality standard for libraries. The cost estimated at $4,000.
Long Term - Purchase a security tag system for the books to prevent book theft.
Automatic doors are needed because the doors are too heavy for a person in a wheelchair to open.
In 5 to 7 years would like to start addition to the east side of the library.
Police
Short Term Goal - New top bar equipment for police vehicles.
Upgrade hand held walkie-talkie system.
Replace one computer.
Need to add a locker area for female police officer.
Wastewater System
Short Term Goal - Implementation of the Sanitary Sewer Report once Rowe has completed it.
Develop a Mercury Plan to meet the DEQ Permit.
Install a variable speed control system at the Bar Screen Pump Station.
Long Term Goal - Eliminate the infiltration problems in the collection system.
Cemetery
Short Term Goal - Complete the new section in the cemetery. Still need to have the road with drainage put in this spring then the water line can be installed. Once the entire infrastructure is put in then can have Spicer Group put the markers in the section for plotting the lots.
Long Term Goal - The cemetery board wants to put in another road that would exit onto Onley Street for better traffic flow.
Water
Purchase of an automatic meter reader system.
Five Year Master Plan of water system.
Purchase a generator for water well #6.
Locate area for another new well.
Water Well cleaning plan.
Replace the garage roof on the water department building.
Assessing
Need a city wide re-appraisal. The last time it was done was 1992. The cost would be around $25,000.
Streets
Replace the approach on the Main Street Bridge.
Wilson Blvd. from Lake to Graham.
Maple St. from S. return on Chestnut to State St.
Corinth from Olive St. to Cemetery entrance.
Franklin St. from S. return on Walnut to State St.
Franklin St. from S. return on Walnut to Hazel St.
Electric
Continue with Victorian Street Lights on M-46.
Add Victorian Lights to the Lions Park walkway.
Purchase a Boring Machine to install underground electric lines.
